Mr. Alkis Tsikardonis
Head of Corporate Responsibility, METRO AG
Alkis is currently the Head of Corporate Responsibility at METRO AG, the leading global food and non-food wholesaler that specialises in serving the needs HoReCa as well as independent traders, with presence in 34 countries, more than 97,000 employees and sales of €25.6 billion (FY 19/20). He has led large scale sustainability programmes across various sectors to include Hospitality at IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), Banking at Santander UK, Retail at Harrods and held advisory and consulting positions at Linklaters LLP and AccountAbility.
He is a graduate of the London School of Economics (LSE) Executive Education Programme in Climate Change Economics and Governance. Alkis also holds an MSc in Management with a specialisation in Corporate Responsibility from Cass Business School, an MA in Marketing, Advertising and PR from the University of Sheffield and a BA in International Economics and Politics from the University of Macedonia. Alkis is a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (FICRS) and a Chartered Environmentalist (IEMA Practitioner).
Alkis also sits in various Advisory Boards, such as the Heart of the City – a City of London Corporation organisation which promotes responsible practices to SMEs – and the Steering Group of the recently launched CR&S Apprenticeship Scheme in the UK. He also sits in the Cass Business School / Sir John Cass Foundation projects steering group.
