Dr. Konstantinos Aravosis

Professor UNESCO Chairholder on Green Innovation and Circular Economy at National Technical University Athens, former Secretary General for Forestry and Environment and Water at Greek Ministry of Environment and Energy

Konstantinos Aravosis is Professor and UNESCO Chair for Green Innovation and Cyclical Innovation at NTUA and Professor at ATHENS MBA (NTUA – OPA) (1997 to date). He is coordinator of the “Research Unit on Economic Environment and Sustainable Development” of the Department of Industrial Management and Business Research of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. 

He was also a visiting professor at Imperial College – University of London and a research associate at the Earth Engineering Center of Columbia University – USA. 

At the same time he was a visiting professor at Imperial College – University of London and a research associate at the Earth Engineering Center of Columbia University – USA. 

He was Secretary of State for Forests from 2/2022 to 7/2023 and previously Secretary of State for Natural Environment and Water at the Ministry of Environment and Energy from 7/2019.

He is a Mechanical Engineer (Aachen University of Technology – Germany) with an MSc in Management Science from Imperial College and a Phd from NTUA.

He was Environment Advisor to the President of the New Democracy Kyriakos Mitsotakis and current Prime Minister and coordinator of the drafting team of the Environment Programme of the New Democracy.

He was an advisor to the Minister of Culture , Fanis Petralia, on the projects of the Olympic Games, and their post-Olympic use.

He was Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Institute of Production and Services Management of the Hellenic Society of Business Administration.

He has been President of the Panhellenic Association of Environmental Protection Enterprises (PASEPPE), President of the Hellenic Solid Waste Management Association (EEDSA), President of the Environmental Committee of the Technical Chamber of Greece, President of the Waste Energy Recovery Council – member of the global network coordinated by Columbia University – USA and member of the Investment and Energy Project Evaluation Committees of the Ministry of Development. In addition, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Workers’ Housing Corporation (HHC) and General Manager of Environmental Corporations.

He has extensive study and research experience (as a coordinator or project team member of European Programmes) in investment management and evaluation, operational research and environmental investment analysis.

He was co-founder and main organizer of the largest national volunteer campaign (45.000 volunteers) LETS DO IT GREECE where the whole country is cleaned in one day with symbolic character within the framework of the international campaign LETS DO IT WORLD. 

He has organized 12 International Conferences and has authored books and more than 100 publications in international scientific journals and proceedings of International Conferences, and coordinated a large number of national and international research projects.

He is President of the Imperial College Alumni Association of Greece.
